The Divine Miss got the metal plate from last year's surgery out on Monday. Overall, the procedure went very well. She didn't have to wait long at all to be taken back and I really felt that our concerns with the pain, anesthesia, and her recent seizure activity were not taken lightly. I am not sure what they used to put her under, but for the first time ever, she woke up happy and alert.

We held Sprite's birthday party today and decided on a dolly tea party theme. "Tea" was apple juice and we had Pb&J finger sandwiches, grapes and confetti cupcakes. The local quilt shop is about to move even closer to me, like within walking distance and in the same building as CoolBoy's Tai Kwan Do and Sprite's ballet classes. The only thing I sewed for Easter this year was a new outfit for Sprite. The first item was a modified Redondo by Studio Tantrum. This weekend I left all the kidlets with Dh and went to our old house in Jefferson City to see what needed to be done to put it back on the market. My brother, my dad and I fixed several things, I talked to the new real estate agents, and we finalized a date for the auction. The Divine Miss had two doctors appointments today, one to see the neurologist and one to see the orthopedic surgeon who did her surgery three weeks ago.The neuro visit was short and sweet. It was a better afternoon after a horrible morning. After her bm this morning, we had to wait a while for the anesthesia doc to come up to change her dressing as she had gotten poop all over it too. He gave her a bolus of the meds in the epidural and that, combined with giving Toradol helped tremendously and she was able to sleep most of the afternoon. Early evening, the nurses changed her

Turned out to be a rough night as the meds from surgery wore off. She got Lortab (Tylenol and Vicodin) added to her Valium and that helped a lot. She had some trouble with the foley catheter in that it didn't empty right and that was making her uncomfortable. Apparently the economy has hit so hard that even the birds can't afford air fare to fly south for the winter.These were taken from my back door -- the lake behind the fence? not supposed to be a lake. Eventually it will be the local walking park. The water would have to get pretty high to get to our house (at least 4-5 feet), so we are not concerned, but it is funny to watch the squirrels race

My husband's counter is counting down the hours to the Divine Miss's surgery -- right now we stand at 104 hours and 40 odd minutes. I got the preregistration call today -- will get the call probably Friday afternoon from Same Day Surgery. I held her today and played with her and read to her and tried not to think about what life will be like for her in a week. Dh and I will both be starting

I took DM to the cerebral palsy clinic yesterday where we saw the orthopedic surgeon, physiatrist, and neurology nurse. She also had x-rays done on hips and spine and we saw the DME people about a bath chair (they can't really help us -- they are not on our provider list -- big sigh).The good news: her spine is fine for now, curvature just needs to be watched.The bad news: she does need
